February is a going to be a busy month! We start with Super Sunday and Winter Bible Study. “The Parables of Jesus in Matthew” is a study that has already enriched my life in preparation and I pray will enrich yours as well. A close look at the very words of Jesus is the best corrective to the strange theologies and doctrines going around these days. The schedule is as follows:

SUPER SUNDAY – February 7, 2010

10:30 AM Worship Service

10:50 AM Session 2

Noon – Super Sunday Lunch

MONDAY, TUESDAY,  – February 8, 9

10:30 AM  and 7:00 PM (day and night sessions are repeats)

WEDNESDAY – February 10

10:30 AM and 6:30 Vespers and Evening Session

I have written the study course book again this year. It is an intense study of all 37 of Jesus’ parables as recorded in Matthew. There is no charge for the book, however, it costs approximately $3.50 per copy to print and bind. This is dramatically less than having it commercially printed thanks to the fine helpers who, along with our church secretary Janis Taylor, gave of their time and talents in the church office. Your special gifts to reimburse the church for printing and binding materials will be greatly appreciated. OF COURSE, if you cannot give, someone else will give more than $3.50, so do not hesitate to take a copy and grow from the study!

            February 13 is an opportunity to give something back of the generosity that was given to us after Katrina. Before we can help with such mega-disasters as the Haiti earthquake or another storm nearer to home, we need to be properly trained. We all remember the loving people who showed up after the storm but were unable to provide real help because they were not trained. The February 13 Disaster Relief Training at First Baptist Church of Wiggins will give us an opportunity to be trained so that when we volunteer to help, we can do so safely and effectively.

            Discipleship Training is launching two new programs, a book reading club and a study course on the book of Esther in February. Avail yourselves to these opportunities to be better enabled servants of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Don't forget the Mother's Day Offering for the Baptist Chidren's Village. Mother's Day is the special emphasis but we give to help Mississippi's Largest Family all year long.
