REMEMBER that Haiti is a nation of 9 million people, 2 million of which were directly affected by the quake. Over 80% of the population lives below the poverty level.
The Southern Baptist Convention's International Mission Board is receiving donations via Baptist Global Response:
IMB is working through the Florida Baptist Convention that already has a well established work in Haiti. Thankfully there are 900 Southern Baptist Churches in Haiti. 70 are in Port au Prince where the quake was centered. You may use a credit card at this site.
Mississippi Baptists' Disaster Response Teams are on standby and ready to go as soon as conditions allow. You may give through MISSISSIPPI BAPTIST DISASTER RELIEF PO BOX 530 JACKSON, MS 39205. For more links and information, go to http://www.mbcb.org.
There are other reputable avenues for giving! However, when you give through Southern Baptist organizations, you can be sure that help is shared in the best way and the name of Jesus will be proclaimed! Administrative costs are covered by the Cooperative Program, so your gifts to Haiti Respose will go directly to Haiti.
BUCKETS OF HOPE

Diamondhead Baptist Church is vitally interested in the mission response to the island nation of Haiti in the wake of the terrible earthquake. Having been through the rigors of Hurricane Katrina, we know first hand some of the pain and frustrations being felt by residents there.
Historically, Southern Baptist Missions in the local church has been built around three three ways to respond.
